Once known as the capital of the textile industry, Vejle today is the capital of South Denmark and is a leader in IT, innovation and development. The city of Vejle has a population of more than 52,000, and the municipality includes 108,021 residents.

Vejle is a city that’s not afraid to think big. Locals are committed to making both the city and the municipality a unique and exciting place to live and work.

The city has developed a reputation for taking the initiative to make things happen, and Vejle punches well above its weight in some of the country’s largest business ventures – from the Danish Bomuldsspinderier to Tulip and chewing gum giant Dandy. Vejle is home to a large number of IT companies and many of the city’s historical factory buildings have been transformed into exciting creative environments for the city’s artists, such as Spinderihallerne, a dynamic business environment with 60+ creative businesses and artists working side by side to promote networking, collaboration, knowledge and skill sharing.

Vejle is a city that’s growing by the year with a number of visionary construction projects currently underway, from the residential construction wave in the harbor, to the world-renowned artist Olafur Eliasson’s fortress-like headquarters for the Danish investment company Kirk Kapital, which will be located in a new harbor island complete with housing, cultural and recreational facilities, restaurants and cafes. Not that residents of Vejle are stuck for things to do right now – the city boasts a vibrant high street, shopping centres with big name chain stores as well as independent boutiques, a cinema complex, gyms, an art museum and a thriving cultural scene.
