Danish International Manufacturing Academy (DIMA)

DIMA supports the competence supply to the industry in the Triangle Region

Danish International Manufacturing Academy (DIMA) is a private/public partnership that works to ensure the industry in the Triangle Region has access to competent labor, which is necessary for the area's growth.

The industry in the Triangle Region is doing very well: Since 2018, employment corresponding to more than 3,000 full-time positions – and even more jobs – has been created. However, future job creation is challenged by a shortage of competent labor. On one hand, the Triangle Region has very low unemployment, and on the other hand, it is difficult to continue to find skilled workers as well as engineers and other employees with a technical-scientific education.

DIMA brings together all relevant stakeholders

The members of DIMA collaborate on:

  • Making production visible as an attractive career path
  • Strengthening the image and attractiveness of production-oriented educational institutions
  • Enhancing companies' innovation and productivity through close interaction about education and continuing education
  • Ensuring high quality, coherence, and relevance in the competence supply to the business community in the Triangle Region
  • Strengthening and highlighting the Triangle Region as an attractive production center

DIMA's members consist of educational institutions, job centers, business services, municipalities, labor market parties, and not least industrial companies in the Triangle Region.

Focus on concrete solutions

The starting point for collaboration in DIMA is that members together identify challenges and create space for developing new solutions. The strength lies in the cross-sector collaboration between stakeholders, where challenges are illuminated from different angles – and where each stakeholder's particular competencies and functions can be put into play.

The framework for the work in DIMA is defined by two work programs distributed across three focus areas, as follows:

  • 360⁴ guidance of companies
  • More continuing education
  • More vocationally educated

The work program "360⁴ guidance and continuing education"

Focuses on ensuring collaboration and knowledge sharing between business consultants from the employment, business promotion, and education systems. The goal is to provide companies with optimal guidance on continuing education and labor. A central tool is a common frame of reference for dialogue with companies.

The work program "More vocationally educated"
Aims to get more young people to choose a vocational career through projects and pilot actions that highlight production companies as inspiring workplaces. Previous projects include "Industry as a career path" and the vocational candidate education in Operations Management.

DIMA as a collaboration platform
DIMA creates relationships and mutual knowledge among stakeholders within education, labor market, and business promotion. This makes it easier to guide companies and establish small, effective collaborations that meet concrete needs.

Does your company or organization have a proposal for a challenge that DIMA’s board should discuss? Please feel free to contact us.
