Citizens, council members and mayors met about green transition
Strong political focus on green transition and citizen involvement
How can we as local politicians stand stronger together to promote the green transition – and how do we ensure that citizens not only understand the necessity of the changes but also feel like active participants?
These were some of the central questions discussed when local politicians from across the Triangle Region met on Thursday, April 10, for an inspiration and dialogue event focused on green transition, citizen collaboration, and joint municipal solutions.
The citizens' voice in the green transition
One of the presentations came from two citizen representatives from Viuf, Nikolaj and Anita, who talked about their roles in the development of the large solar park in their local area. They shared their experiences collaborating closely with both the municipality and project developers and emphasized how crucial it is to listen to the local population and take their input seriously. Their story provided valuable insights into how local support for large projects can be created through dialogue, openness, and involvement.
Chairman of the Climate, Nature and Environment Committee in Vejle Municipality Søren Peschardt
Søren Peschardt spoke about the large solar project in Viuf from a political perspective and emphasized how important cooperation with the citizens is when we carry out major climate projects.
Mayor of Middelfart Johannes Lundsfryd Jensen
The mayor of Middelfart spoke about the need to maintain focus on green transition in a time when the agenda is heavily influenced by security policy. From local action to joint climate effort
Today's program included presentations and discussions on how municipalities together can develop green solutions that balance local concerns with global climate challenges. There were also inspiring contributions from both researchers and practitioners, providing participants with new knowledge and perspectives on collaboration, communication, and involvement in the green transition.
Event in unique surroundings
The event took place at Billund Airport, which provided a very special setting for the day. Here, participants had the opportunity to experience the airport from the inside and – for those who wished – participate in a guided behind-the-scenes tour.
A big thank you goes to CEO Jan Hessellund and the staff at Billund Airport for creating fantastic conditions for the event and providing excellent service throughout.
