The HTX Project - Green STEM Voices Shows Promising Results
Development Workshop: The HTX Project - Green STEM Voices is Well Underway, and the First Results are Promising
The project HTX – Green STEM Voices for a Sustainable Future is well underway, and the preliminary experiences show that the effort is already making a difference. This was clear at the most recent development workshop, where participants from municipalities, HTX, and primary schools gathered to take stock, share experiences, and further develop the project's teaching and bridging courses.
The workshop focused on what works in practice and how the good experiences can be strengthened and spread across municipalities and schools.
Positive Trends Among the Youth
The project's baseline evaluation points to several positive developments. Students' knowledge of HTX has increased significantly, and there is also a growing motivation for STEM subjects as well as a larger proportion of students considering HTX as a possible youth education.
These results support the project's ambition to give more young people insight into how STEM subjects can be used in practice – and how they relate to future education and career paths within the green transition.
Practice-Based Courses and Peer-to-Peer Communication Make a Difference
A central theme at the workshop was the importance of practice-based and lively learning environments. Experiences show that visits to HTX, work in workshops, and concrete tasks with real-world problems strengthen students' engagement and curiosity.
Especially peer-to-peer communication was highlighted as an important success factor. When HTX students participate as role models and communicators, primary school students experience greater recognition and credibility, which helps make HTX a more tangible and realistic option.
Clear Frameworks and Coherence are Crucial
The workshop also pointed to the importance of clear frameworks and expectation alignment. Students benefit from knowing the purpose of the courses, what they are to learn, and how their knowledge can be used both in practice and in connection with future education choices.
At the same time, focus was placed on the need for differentiation and progression, so that students with special needs also experience security, academic development, and success in encountering STEM subjects and HTX.
Joint Development of the Next Steps
The development workshop not only served as a status update but also as a starting point for the further development of the project. Participants worked on ideas for new bridging formats, strengthened cooperation with the business community, and better timing and organization of the courses.
The project thus continues in close dialogue between municipalities, primary schools, and HTX with a common goal: to strengthen young people's motivation for STEM subjects and give them a solid foundation to make qualified education choices – benefiting both the individual young person and the green transition in the Triangle Region.
