High demand for digital skills
Digital skills were requested in just under 24% of all job postings in 2025 in the Triangle Region. This indicates a high degree of digitalization in the Triangle Region, which is, however, surpassed by the Capital Region and the Aarhus area. The greater demand for digital skills in the Capital Region and Aarhus is driven by the demand for specialized IT skills and is partly related to the fact that these areas have a higher concentration of specialized IT companies.
In 2025, digital integrator skills were requested in 1 out of 5 job postings from companies in the Triangle Region. This is at the same level as the Aarhus area, and above the Odense and Aalborg areas. Digital integrator skills are competencies that connect the digital with other professional skills or areas of the business, e.g., the use of digital tools for production, marketing, or accounting. The high demand for digital integrator skills indicates a broad focus on digitalization in companies in the Triangle Region and that digital is integrated in many places within the companies.
The demand for digital integrator skills increased in the period after 2020, which may be related to increasing digitalization of business processes in connection with, among other things, the Covid-19 crisis. This trend is seen across metropolitan areas except for the Capital Region. In recent years, however, the demand for digital integrator skills has stagnated across all metropolitan areas in the country. This may be due, among other things, to saturation in companies regarding recruitment of digital skills.
In 2025, digital specialist skills were requested in just under 4% of job postings from companies in the Triangle Region. This is at the same level as the Odense and Aalborg areas, but below the Capital Region and Aarhus area. The digital specialist skills are the deep digital skills focused on the development and operation of IT. Demand for digital specialist skills indicates that digital systems are being worked with in companies, and it also says something about the complexity of these. The greater demand for digital specialist skills in the Capital Region and Aarhus is therefore partly related to the fact that these areas have a higher concentration of specialized IT companies.
The demand for digital specialist skills has not followed the same development as the demand for integrator skills over the past 10 years. This indicates that digitalization in companies primarily occurs in the form of spreading digital aspects to more areas of the business, rather than hiring more specialists to work focused on digital.
About digital skills
The demand for digital skills in job postings says something about the degree of digitalization in companies. Two types of digital skills are distinguished. Digital integrator skills are those that often represent the connection between digital and business. Digital specialist skills are the deep digital skills focused on the development and operation of IT. Demand for digital specialist skills indicates that digital systems are being worked with in the company and also says something about their complexity. The definition of digital integrator and specialist skills has been developed by HBS Economics, among others in collaboration with Digital Dogme. Data comes from HBS Economics' database HBS-Jobintel, which contains the majority of publicly available online job postings in Denmark from 2007 onwards combined with data from, among others, the CVR register. Using statistical methods, among other things, competency requirements for the position in job postings are identified and digital skills are recognized.
